Following on from their critically appraised EP ‘Fur Coat and the Peace Boat’, Sydney psych-rock group, Burn Antares, step in a new exciting direction with their latest single ‘Young Gun’.
The band had a stellar 2015 performing around Sydney, with capacity headline shows and support slots with The Growlers, The Murlocs and Deep Sea Arcade, as well as playing the sold-out Lost Paradise festival.
Veteran producer Tony Buchen (Montaigne, The Preatures and Megan Washington) recorded ‘Young Gun’ in Sydney’s Rancom Studios. The track melds retro-pop with modern indie-rock, drawing listeners in with their intricately layered hooks and melodies, taking cues from David Bowie and Blondie.
Already released singles ‘Rich Man’ and ‘Crystal Love’ were embraced by worldwide blogs and radio - with ‘Crystal Love’ featured in the top 10 AMRAP charts.
Front woman Grace Farriss describes the writing process of ‘Young Gun’ –
“We typically spend countless hours creating our songs, being very clinical and harsh with ourselves but with Young Gun, it was quite different. We went at it with open minds and experimented a lot more with sounds in the studio and generally had a bit more fun with it. I think the end result is a great reflection of the process and the vibe was captured perfectly by our producer Tony.”
Burn Antares will be unveiling the accompanying music video in the coming weeks.
