RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // WHISPERING JACKIE - BREAKING UP THIS TIME

Rob Carroll

Sydney-based punk-rock trio, Whispering Jackie have just released their new single Breaking Up This Time and announced a run of shows to support the release. Recorded and mixed by Daniel Antix (Gay Paris, Sound of Seasons) at Def Wolf Studios, Sydney, ‘Breaking Up This Time’ is the lead track lifted from their forthcoming sophomore EP ‘For The Moment’ (due late-2017)

Combining elements of punk, grunge and garage-rock, ‘Breaking Up This Time’ takes cues from the likes of the group’s staple influences Magic Dirt, Sonic Youth and Hole, whilst melding more modern sounds of White Lung, Best Coast and DZ Deathrays.

Frontwoman Sare Jackie describes the inspiration and meaning behind the track:

Breaking Up This Time describes being in an on-off relationship and the ambiguity of not knowing where you stand. The song is sung from my point of view where I'm the one that's being left, and I'm pleading with them to stay, even though I know deep down it's not the right thing for me. It's a situation that heaps of people find themselves in, so I wanted to write a song about that struggle. Everyone's afraid of being left alone.”

Whispering Jackie’s 2016 debut EP ‘Social Isolation’ was received warmly by the Australian punk community, with single ‘Casino Mate’ getting spun on triple j’s ‘short.fast.loud’, 4ZZZ, FBi, RTR and various other community stations.

To celebrate the release of the new song, the band will perform four shows in Sydney and Wollongong. In the coming weeks, Whispering Jackie will also reveal the accompanying music video for ‘Breaking Up This Time’.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // SPARROWS - TAKE MY HEART OUT

Rob Carroll

Sparrows_black&white copy.jpg

After releasing two standout singles in 2016, Sydney-based songstress Sparrows has returned with her stellar follow up single ‘Take My Heart Out’ – a delicately layered track where poignant lyrics float over an infectious soundscape.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Grimes, Lykke Li and Bjork, the self-produced and recorded effort combines sampled recordings with themes of folk, pop and electronica; whilst melding rich vocal harmonies and textures, delivering a genuinely raw account of an addictive relationship.

Sparrows describes the inspiration and meaning behind ‘Take My Heart Out’

Seeing so many people getting lost in their devices lately, it got me thinking about a time when I lost my identity to a relationship. I could see myself doing ridiculous and embarrassingly obsessive things but couldn’t stop it, kind of like when you can't stop your thumb from scrolling, hoping you're going to land on a pot of gold. As humans, we all have a propensity to get caught up in addictive behaviour - often in an attempt to tame our mindless chatter or fill a void with stuff. Take My Heart Out is about crossing that fine line into addiction.”

Sparrows’ previous singles ‘On Your Own Now’ and ‘Get To Know You’ received strong support from the likes of triple j, FBi radioSpotify via their New Music Friday, Indie Pop and Pop Edge playlists and worldwide tastemaker blogs, which earned the producer and vocalist a top ten position in the esteemed Hype Machine charts.

Sparrows was among thirty international and Australian songwriters and producers chosen to attend APRA’s most recent SongHub ‘The Tower’ - a four-day songwriting camp which included musicians David Hodges (Evanescence), Francois Tetaz (Gotye) and Chris Walla (Death Cab for Cutie).

In the coming weeks, Sparrows will reveal the accompanying music video for ‘Take My Heart Out’.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // BILLY FOX - TASTE

Rob Carroll

Sydney-based indie-electronic artist, Billy Fox, has just unveiled an East Coast tour and his latest self-produced cut ‘Taste’ – mixed by Chris Collins (Tigertown, Middle Kids, Gang of Youths) and mastered by Steve Smart (Flume, Empire of the Sun).

‘Taste’ continues to demonstrate Fox’s ability to produce genre-bending compositions, laying down sultry pulsating beats that meld with soul-infused vocals likened to James Vincent McMorrow, and beautifully capped off with intricately-layered digital soundscapes reminiscent of SOHN & Aquilo.

Fox describes the inspiration and story behind the song –

“Taste is really about only realising how much you needed something when it is gone. Taking things for granted is such an easy trap to fall into, so we need to be aware of the important parts of our lives and treat them with care. I wrote, recorded and produced this track entirely at my home studio.”

Since releasing his critically acclaimed debut single ‘Monuments’, Fox has garnered strong support from the likes of triple j, Spotify and Hype Machine featuring in their top 10 Now charts with recent single ‘Avalanche’. Amongst recording new material and completing a short East Coast tour for his last single ‘Shapes’, Fox recently collaborated with up-and-coming producer, Mookhi, on her debut single ‘Foul Play’ which was widely embraced by the online tastemaker community and added to spot rotation on triple j.

To celebrate the release of ‘Taste’, Billy Fox will be embarking on a five-show East Coast tour performing in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Sydney and Melbourne.

The accompanying video for ‘Taste’ will be released in the coming weeks.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // BILLY FOX - SHAPES

Rob Carroll

Fast gaining a reputation for consistently delivering standout tracks is Sydney-based indie-electronic producer, Billy Fox, who has just unveiled brand new single ‘Shapes’ – recorded, mixed and co- produced by Chris Collins (Tigertown, Middle Kids, Gang of Youths) and mastered by Steve Smart (Flume, Empire of the Sun) at 301 studios Sydney.

Whilst not swaying from the unique sound he has honed and developed over time, ‘Shapes’ showcases a significant progression in Fox’s songwriting and production. Glimmering with walls of beautifully arranged synths and harmony-laden vocal melodies;; the hauntingly mesmerising new offering finds balance within its well thought out structure and shifting dynamics.

The endearing musician describes the creative process behind ‘Shapes’ -

“Shapes is about our relationships as humans, and what we need to change in ourselves before we expect someone else to change. Co-producing this track with Chris Collins was seamless - he is such a genuine soul. The sessions were garnished with mixed-berry iced teas care of Charlie, Chris' wife and co-artist in Tigertown. This perfectly symbolised the theme of 'Shapes'-how we can be good people before we expect this of others.”

Most recent single ‘Avalanche’ was strongly supported by local and worldwide media, including radio stations triple j, FBi, 4ZZZ, SYN and Edge FM, streaming giants Spotify via their curated playlists, spins on MTV and reviews from a slew of tastemaker blogs – which resulted in a top ten charting position via Hype Machine’s esteemed ‘Now’ charts.

To celebrate the release of ‘Shapes’, Fox will play a hometown Sydney launch show at OAF Gallery, co- headlining with Brisbane songstress, San Mei.

‘Shapes’ is now available worldwide via Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and all other good digital retailers.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // CHASE CITY - A-N-X-T

Rob Carroll

Following on from releasing a slew of standout singles, Tasmanian-based indie rock quintet, Chase City, have returned to unveil their latest cut ‘A-N-X-T’ – recorded and produced by ARIA-award winning Magoo AKA Lachlan Goold (Midnight Oil, Regurgitator, Powderfinger).

‘A-N-X-T’ showcases the bands ability to produce genre diverse hits, effortlessly blending dance-punk rhythms likened to Franz Ferdinand & Hot Hot Heat with angsty lyrics and punchy vocals likened to The Vines & The Hives.

Front man Tarik Stoneman describes the inspiration and story behind the song –

“We wrote A-N-X-T well over a year ago at a time when we were experimenting pretty heavily having grown tired of the indie pop sound that we had been pursuing for the two years prior. The band was listening to a lot of old Talking Heads & Bowie records along with really getting into the DFA (label) inspired dance-punk scene that was around in the early 2000’s. The song came together rather quickly in the studio and had a very natural feel to it. We didn’t over complicate it and kept it largely minimal. The lyrics have a political lean, reflecting on some of the attitudes and issues we face in society and are geared at the role and impact of media in our lives.”

Since taking out the triple j Unearthed 2013 Falls Festival competition, Chase City have garnered strong support from triple j, worldwide blogs and Spotify via numerous worldwide playlists. They’ve toured nationally seven times, sharing stages with Sticky FingersDune RatsGang of YouthsJinja Safari and Boo Seeka. Their recent January tour boasted multiple sold-out shows including SydneyMelbourne and Byron Bay.

The group have also been working on their debut album (due July 3) and will be touring internationally throughout July and October to support the new release.

‘A-N-X-T’ is now available worldwide via Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and all other good digital retailers.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // SOLOMON O - HOLOGRAMS

Rob Carroll

Since picking up a guitar at an early-age, Brisbane-based musician, Solomon O has formed a deep and insatiable love for writing and performing music. Fast track to the present and that endearment remains undeniably strong as he launches his new stunning debut track ‘Holograms’.

‘Holograms’ was a complete DIY recording effort by Solomon O and friend / session drummer, Brandon Gillies, and tracked between his Brisbane home studio and on the NSW Central Coast at The Grove. The mesmerising indie-pop cut glides along effortlessly, driven by its luscious and full sounding rhythm section, beautifully composed synths and capped off by Solomon O’s dream-laden and soothing croons.

Growing up, Solomon O learned classical guitar and piano and later found himself joining a gospel band, which taught the musician the fundamental elements of arranging and composing songs. After a brush with a drug-fueled party lifestyle, the songsmith did a complete 180 turn by undertaking and completing a psychology degree.

Following on from university, Solomon O decided to pack up his life and move to London. After what he describes an ‘early-life crisis’, he moved back to Australia, choosing Sydney as his new home where he started working on ‘Holograms’ and a collection of other songs he plans on releasing soon.

These days the enigmatic creative finds himself back in his hometown of Brisbane and slightly more settled; indulging in spending most of his pay check on new instruments and recording equipment.

‘Holograms’ is now available worldwide via Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and all other good digital retailers.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // BLONDEBEARS - DISSOLVE

Rob Carroll

Sydney experimental-electronic duo Blondebears are Jake Stiles and Sebastian Morales. On their debut, the two songwriters deliver the mesmerising track titled ‘Dissolve’ – produced and recorded by the group themselves at their Sydney-based studios.

Opening with warped synths, soothing falsetto and hypnotic beats, ‘Dissolve’ soars into a gradual crescendo; unapologetically melding its array of hauntingly beautiful and cracked sonic textures. As the layers ascend and overlap seamlessly, the dream-laden journey eventually enters a state of climax and resolves fading out distantly; leaving behind an air of melancholy.

The moody cut also carries a deeper and underlying hypothesis further explained by Stiles –

"Dissolve" is about empathy for other human beings and living in another person’s body for a day. What should you do with someone else's life? The character abuses their new body/lifestyle and disagrees with how others lead their lives but eventually empathises with other humans after living as them and feeling new emotions and experiences. I feel it is paramount to accept people from different circumstances or life experiences. With imagining how they live their day to day lives we can better understand others from another perspective.”

Stiles and Morales first met through an unsuccessful attempt to sneak into a music festival underage. Sharing a common love for music the boys experimented with different instruments and sounds until finding what would be known as Blondebears. The two plan to continually release new songs over the year and launch their live show nationally.

'Dissolve' is now available via Soundcloud

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // DEAD LANGUAGE - THE MAN WHO KILLED MY FATHER

Rob Carroll

Following on from the release of two standout singles ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ and ‘LED Nights’, Sydney’s Dead Language returns with his latest effort ‘The Man Who Killed My Father’.

The anthemic cut retains an uplifting melody throughout, overlaid with punchy bass lines and catchy synths. Paired with Price’s profound and sincere lyrics, the track offers a comprehensive take on pop music whilst holding onto it’s classic sensibilities.

The man behind the moniker, Dominic Price, describes the inspiration and story behind the song –

“A little over three years ago now, my father took his own life. There’s a discordant swell of emotion that comes with something like that, a mix of fierce anger and utter devastation. I didn’t know if I’d ever be able to forgive my dad for what he did. So I split him into two men: one was the father who had cared and doted on me, and one was the man who abandoned me. Once I had that idea, the whole song flowed from there. "

Dead Language’s previous singles have garnered strong support from local tastemaker blogs including Project U, The Brag, Scenestr. & The Interns as well as key community radio stations such as 4ZZZ & 2SER.

Apart from playing a few local shows, Price has taken a step back from performing in the previous year in order to craft his impressive debut EP (due late April).

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // ROSS HENRY - FLUX

Rob Carroll

Following on from releasing his standout single ‘The Deep’, Sydney-based musician, Ross Henry, has just returned to unveil his latest cut ‘Flux’ – a completely self-produced effort recorded at the producer’s Stanmore home studio.

‘Flux’ once again showcases Henry’s ability to distinguish himself from the crowd, melding eclectic electronic soundscapes with warm and delicate vocals, resulting in his own brand of ambient, experimental electronica.

Henry describes the inspiration and story behind the song –

I’ve come to realise that the music I make tends to cultivate, celebrate or create safe spaces. Everyone deserves a place to live, to feel at home and express themselves free from ridicule and discrimination. The first track from this series of thought looks at the biggest safe space we have: the planet….’Flux’ looks at the idea of Earth fluctuating between a series of states over time. What was once a hot, poisonous, ball of dust devoid of free oxygen eventually became a safe space for life, however the planet is always in a state of flux, both favouring and disfavouring its inhabitants.

Henry’s previous singles have garnered strong support from worldwide and local tastemakers including Stereofox (USA), Sunset in the Rearview (USA), Pilerats, MTV and triple j. Previous cut ‘The Deep’ was added to ‘Fresh Finds’ playlist, which resulted in a charting position via Spotify’s Global ‘Viral 50’.

Amongst writing and recording new music, Henry has kept a busy live schedule, including a recent main support slot to Melbourne producer, Owen Rabbit at his sold out Sydney show. As an avid supporter of small local venues, the songsmith will be officially launching ‘Flux’ at Chippendale’s Knox Bar on March 17th.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // DROP LEGS - LIZZY

Rob Carroll

Following on from releasing their standout tracks ‘Criminal’ and ‘750 mL To Paradise’, Byron Bay-based upstarts, Drop Legs, have just unveiled the brand-new sun-soaked single, ‘Lizzy’ to coincide with supporting launch dates across NSW – including a slot on boutique festival ‘Rabbit’s Eat Lettuce’.

Taking cues from the likes of The RootsBlue King Brown and Koi Child, ‘Lizzy’ shines a light on the group’s ability to meld an array of eclectic influences by combining themes of reggae and hip-hop; yet remaining cohesive in their overall delivery and finish of a song.

Forming less than eighteen months ago, the sextet has wasted no time in developing a strong work ethic towards touring; already traversing the East Coast four times and with a run of Indonesian shows presented by Sailor Jerry. Along their travels they’ve also managed to share the stage with the likes of Sticky Fingers, Ocean Alley, Opiuo, Boo Seeka and The Bennies

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // SELAHPHONIC - HAD OUR HEAVEN

Rob Carroll

Carving out a reputation as one of Australia’s hardest working independent indie-pop bands, Sunshine Coast-based, Selahphonic have just unveiled tour dates and their new single ‘Had Our Heaven’ – The lead track lifted from their forthcoming and debut EP ‘Therapy’ - Recorded at Cooper Lane Studio, Sydney by Chris Collins (Gang of Youths, Tigertown, Middle Kids).

Keeping in line with their signature anthemic stadium pop sound, ‘Had Our Heaven’ glimmers with synth-laden hooks, infectious lead-guitar licks and is backed by a simple, yet sturdy and bouncing rhythm section; all combining to complement the catchy sing-a-long melodies of endearing front man, Jamie Coyle.

Since their inception in 2011, Selahphonic have released a slew of standout singles widely embraced by various media platforms, including tastemaker blogs Crack in The Road (USA), Acid Stag (AUS), Pilerats (AUS), stellar reviews and rotation via triple j Unearthed and other key support from the likes of MTV, Tone Deaf and The Music.

As well as constantly traversing through local live music venues, Selahphonic have put together DIY backyard show tours and performed globally, which includes appearances at showcases and festivals Culture Collide, CMJ and Canadian Music Week.

To celebrate the release of ‘Therapy’ the band has announced five shows across the East Coast, which kick off in April.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // WHARVES - MAN YOU WANT ME TO BE

Rob Carroll

Lennox Head-based indie-rock quartet, WHARVES, have just revealed an East Coast tour and their brand new single titled ‘Man You Want Me To Be’ – recorded and produced by Steven Schram (San Cisco, Tiny Little Houses) at Studio Circuit, Gold Coast QLD.

The hauntingly enchanting new cut ‘Man You Want Me To Be’ is reminiscent to some of the group’s staple influences Foals, The Strokes and City Calm Down, featuring driving disco-esque beats, thumping fuzz-laden bass and classic Brit-pop guitar tones, all capped off by the brooding and infectious vocal melodies of front man, Matthew Collins.

Likened to that of a Shakespeare classic, the track is inspired by the tale of a tragic and forbidden love. Collins further expands on the meaning and describes the creative process behind the writing and recording:

“I wanted to indulge the male ego in how it can be so destructive and jealous, in some way trying to understand it. We captured the jagged and dark sounds/feelings in the studio but also kept it within a neat pop structure.”

Since their 2015 inception, the band have continually released critically adored songs, with strong support from the likes of triple j Unearthed, community radio and worldwide tastemaker blogs. In the live arena, WHARVES have performed at the 2016 Byron Bay leg of Falls Festival and supported some of the countries most loved indie acts including Polish Club, Morning Harvey and The Delta Riggs.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // RAAVE TAPES - 2 U xoxo

Rob Carroll

Emerging from the beer-soaked and glitter-filled local house party scene, indie-punk rock trio and Newcastle’s favourite sons, RAAVE TAPES, have just revealed their new single ‘2 U xoxo’ and East Coast tour dates.

The unapologetic garage grit of ‘2 U xoxo’ is a raw and infectious party thrasher, taking cues from some of the groups staple influences, Death From Above 1979, Crystal Castles and The Mess Hall. The track is also an ode to the intricacies of modern dating and how annoying it is that good looking people don’t have to be able to dance.

Front man and guitarist, Joab Eastley, further describes the meaning behind ‘2 U xoxo’ –

“These damned pretty people just stand on the wall & people fall all over them. Get in the trenches & get your hands dirty like the rest of us plebs. Open a beer with a lighter. Consume a beverage at a faster than average speed. At least do the damned sprinkler for fuck's sake! WORK FOR IT!”

Since their inception in 2014, RAAVIES (as they’re affectionately known) have cemented themselves as local crowd favourites in the Newcastle music community. RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // MOOKHI - FOUL PLAY (FT. BILLY FOX)

Rob Carroll

New Sydney-based electronic artist, Mookhi (real name Olympia Henshaw), has just unveiled her self-produced and recorded debut single ‘Foul Play’ (featuring Billy Fox) - lifted from her forthcoming EP ‘Lost & Found’ (due February 24).

‘Foul Play’ is an eclectic and sophisticated slice of down-tempo electronica, melding dark pop sensibilities with obscure, yet beautifully layered dynamics inspired by the young songstress’ unique approach to composition and production.

Mookhi describes the creative process behind ‘Foul Play’-

“Foul Play was produced on a plane. With sleep deprivation and that sense of dislocation from anything rational, I started butchering some of my piano chords. From there grew a dark 89 layered track, with experimentation using different amps, effects and found samples (some recorded within plane trip itself). Back in Sydney I took the track to local artist, Billy Fox, who put down perfectly crafted vocals. His lyrics inspired my concept behind the upcoming film clip.”

Growing up in both Hong Kong and India, the enigmatic creative has absorbed her musical surroundings, favouring dark eastern-based scales, chords and melodies. Capturing and sampling snippets of sounds off the street, she weaves distinctive layers of sounds together, creating unlikely combinations of textures and noises.

In the coming weeks, Mookhi, will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘Foul Play’.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // DUNE RATS - SCOTT GREEN

Rob Carroll

Currently on tour in the US and Canada with DZ Deathrays, Dune Rats have dropped new single Scott Green, the next taste of their upcoming 2017 album, and the follow up to Bullshit, which was released earlier this year.

Scott Green sees the Brisbane-Sydney three piece stuck at a party wondering ‘Who’s Scott Green?’ – if the joke hasn’t hit you yet, check out the boys’ Facebook page for more info.

The single was produced by Zac Carper of FIDLAR, who is on board for the whole album. Rumour has it, ‘Scott Green’ will be home to another classic Dunies video – who knows what the boys have in store for this one, given their history of one-upping themselves with each new video?? The single is available now and will be followed shortly after by album release news.

The guys weighed in on how the single came to be: “We made Scott Green out at Josshua Tree in America with Zac from Fidlar. We had 5 days to write some songs in between tours in the US & UK and we busted out a fuck load of tunes having a blast in the middle of bum fuck nowhere. One day we went to ask people at Walmart if they “Scott Green?”…and it took all day. When we got back Zac said “you better have a fucken song after wasting a day looking for who’s got green. We just started making a song about the day – “Who’s Scott Green” – and that was it.”

It’s been a non-stop ride since Dune Rats released their self-titled debut album in 2014, which Rolling Stone dubbed an “unassuming statement of intent. No bullshit punk done well.” From sold-out Australian tours including co-headlining with punk legends Cosmic Psychos, to festivals around the world, 40 shows throughout Europe with The Subways and a HUGE North American tour with besties FIDLAR, the band have had a stunning ascent so far, which shows no sign of stopping.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // HIGH VIOLET - ALL I WANT

Rob Carroll

Adelaide-native indie-pop group, High Violet, have returned with new single ‘All I Want’ alongside tour dates supporting one of the country’s most endearing indie-rock bands, British India, on three metro-city dates in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

‘All I Want’ evokes a significant development in quartet’s songwriting, exploring a more mature approach with melodies, arrangement and taking full advantage of the dual female / male vocals on offer from Emily Smart and Ricky Kradolfer. The end result delivers on a beautifully arranged take of 80’s-inspired synth dream-pop.

Since the bands inception, High Violet have released two standout singles ‘Only Heart’ and ‘Give In’, both of which were strongly embraced by the likes of triple j Unearthed, worldwide tastemaker blogs and community radio.

The four-piece also recently performed their debut live performances to capacity crowds in Sydney and Adelaide, launching their last cut ‘Give In’ at OAF Gallery Bar and Grace Emily respectively.

High Violet will unveil an accompanying music video for ‘All I Want’ within the coming weeks.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // BOOTLEG RASCAL - LOVE HER LIKE I LOVE YOU

Rob Carroll

Bootleg Rascal have had a massive couple of months abroad touring with label-buds, Sticky Fingers, in Europe and the USA; then headed back to Europe and UK, playing their own headline shows and Holland’s festival circuit.

With a couple of months down time back on home soil, the band are currently working on their sophomore album. Their first single ‘Love Her Like I Love You’ is the first taste of what’s to come from the forthcoming and second LP. A record that emphasizes their melodic knack, unique use of loops and explores a recent obsession for 80’s sounds and drum pads taking cues from Bowie and Peter Gabriel.

After releasing their debut album, 'Asleep In the Machine', in January this year, the taco-slinging-dub monsters continued to charter their way at home and abroad, which included sold-out shows at the Manning Bar (SYD) and Corner Hotel (MEL). The title track off the album, 'Asleep In The Machine', also placed at #169 in triple j’s Hottest 200 countdown (2016).

The quartet are set for a national tour this summer, with shows lined up along the East Coast. They'll also play a cheeky festival or two, with a recent performance at Hi-Fi Days (Cronulla), upcoming event The Plot (Parramatta Park) and will feature on the annual Shake N Bake Tour in January-February 2017.

‘Love Her Like I Love You’ is available to stream via Soundcloud.

RARE FINDS NEW RELEASE // OWEN RABBIT - OH MY GOD

Rob Carroll

‘Oh My God’ further shines a light on Rabbit’s creative depth with production largely skewed towards electronic instrumentation, yet still retaining many of his organic traits by incorporating toys, trinkets, rubbish and looping vocals to create harmonies with his beautifully flawed and cracked voice.

Past singles ‘Holy Holy’, ‘Denny’s’ and ‘Weeds’ have received overwhelming support via worldwide blogs, radio including BBC1 (UK), triple j (AUS), Apple Music’s Beats 1 with Ellie Goulding and featured on Spotify’s global and local playlists ‘New Music Friday’, ‘Fresh Finds’ and ‘Weekend Buzz’.

The enigmatic musician has also clocked up considerable miles traversing the globe, touring and performing at showcases in the USA, UK, Europe and Australia where he has completed national tours alongside SAFIA, Boo Seeka, JOY. and more recently triple j Unearthed Laneway Festival competition winners A.D.K.O.B.

After releasing their standout single ‘Sideways’ and completing an incredible twenty-three date East Coast tour, Sydney-based indie-rock revelers, Bad Pony, have swiftly returned with a new track ‘Bottles’ and accompanying tour dates.

With every new release, the envelope is pushed further and ‘Bottles’ is no exception. The eclectic mix of erratic and explosive drum fills, fuzzed out and glimmering synths, Foals inspired guitar licks and the endearing vocals of enigmatic front man, Jarred Young all combine to deliver on a fresh and exciting take on modern day indie-pop.

Young describes the motivation behind writing the song –

“Bottles is about a toxic, alcoholic relationship. It's a lyrically co-written effort that explores frustration, infatuation, intoxication and despair.”

Their previous single and video for ‘Sideways’ was widely embraced by the likes of triple j, MTV, community radio, major local press and worldwide blogs. The quintet also set out on a twenty-three date tour that included shows in TAS, NSW, QLD, VIC and ACT, and took part in their first international showcase event performing at Music Matters, Singapore.

Keeping in line with their hard work ethic approach to touring, the band will play seven shows across the East Coast, which will include dates in Manly, Wollongong, Sydney, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Hobart and Melbourne.

An accompanying music video for ‘Bottles’ will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

'Bottles' is now available to stream via Soundcloud
